We were celebrating the Chinese New Year of Dragon (Loong), and for sure, our new R01 grant, on February 18 at Xiao’s house! So proud of our lovely lab family! Live long and prosper! Hallelujah!!!

2024 Hirbe Lab Thanksgiving & New Year Party

We enjoyed the delicious turkey dinner at Xiao’s house on January 21, 2024, to make up the Thanksgiving as well as to celebrate the New Year! So glad to get reunited finally, especially with our lab alumnus Kevin, a current medical student at WashU!

2023 CTOS Annual Meeting

CTOS was amazing as usual!  Dana’s poster won an award for the best preclinical work and Xiao delivered an amazing presentation!  It was wonderful to connect with colleagues and see some of Ireland!

2023 Sept & Oct Birthday Treats!

Dr. Hirbe ordered some Bundtlets from Nothing Bundt Cakes for the Lab Meeting on Monday, 10/16, to celebrate the September and October Birthdays!

2023 CTF Annual Conference

CTF was amazing as usual!  Kevin, Simge, and Paul presented posters that were well received and Dr. Hirbe was a panelist in the clinical case conference and Gabe a talk highlighting one of our awesome cell-free DNA biomarker collaborations with the NIH.  Everyone had fun connecting with collaborators in the evenings!

Dr. Nishida’s Visit

The Hirbe lab was excited to host Dr Yoshihiro Nishida from Nagoya University.  Dr Nishida was able to spend some time learning how our NF Center is run and shared some of the research that he is passionate about.  We truly enjoyed his visit!

Birthday celebration!

Winter has been a little crazy, but we finally celebrated the January and February birthdays in the lab!

Dana’s paper has been accepted to CCR!

We were excited to celebrate the acceptance of Dana’s paper to CCR!  We hope to bring this exciting work to a clinical trial.  Stay tuned!

The 2nd Baby Shower For Himanshi

The Hirbe lab celebrated with a surprise baby shower for Himanshi on July 11th for the second time, after the one in 2020! Thank Dr. Hirbe and Dana for organizing this event, and thank everyone for the gifts!

Good Luck Abby!

We are so sad to see this amazing technician leave us.  However, she is off to do great things in the MD PhD program at Michigan State.  You will always have a home in the Hirbe lab.  Good luck Abby!

ASCO 2019

Dr. Hirbe attended ASCO this year and chaired the sarcoma session.  The Wash U Sarcoma Program also presented an update on a promising clinical trial in addition to presenting some collaborative projects with Vanderbilt and Stanford.  Attacking sarcoma!

Midwest Sarcoma Trials Partnership Meeting

Dr. Hirbe traveled up north to Mayo Clinic in the cold of winter this week to meet with her sarcoma colleagues in the Midwest Sarcoma Trials Partnership to discuss new clinical trial ideas. Happy Mardi Gras! To celebrate the second largest celebration of Mardi Gras in the USA (behind New Orleans of course) the lab enjoyed king cake.
